Quilting

I grew up watching my mother sew almost every day of her life.  People would come by wanting something made or alterations done.  My granny (mom's mother) sewed for pleasure.  Mamaw (dad's mom) quilted.  I always loved mama's treadle sewing machine.

I didn't inherit the sewing gene.  I asked mom to teach me but she always said it was just quicker and easier for her to make what I wanted. In reality, I don't know if she had the patience.  As I have gotten older, the want to sew or quilt has gotten much stronger.  I was ready for a new hobby. I bought a brother cs6000i and thought it made me a pro.  Unfortunately, I had no idea how to thread it much less sew a straight line.

I decided to sign up for a beginner quilting class at Stitchers Playhouse.  I definitely wasn't ready for that step but I dove in any way.  I had the most patient and awesome teacher.  Her encouragement is what kept me going even though I was out of my league.  I didn't finish it in class and had no idea how to bind but you tube helped - sort of.  The binding wasn't pretty but it was done.  I was hooked...

Blogging is tough

I always have good intentions with my blog but it is tough! I find some great new project and off I go. I forget about blogging until long after I am done.  I hope to get this blog going again.  Stay tuned.....
